Bessin: "Zero migration and repatriation of Syrians admitted to Brandenburg"
Brandenburg's Minister President Woidke (SPD) is in favour of expanding safe countries of origin. Since 2019, a resolution of the Bundestag is to be put to the vote in the Bundesrat by declaring Tunisia, Morocco, Algeria and Georgia as safe countries of origin.
Birgit Bessin, chairperson of the AfD state association of Brandenburg, explains:
"The list of safe countries of origin must be expanded as a matter of urgency. Above all, Syria must be included in the focus. Peace has already been restored in most areas of Syria. And even reconstruction has begun in the country. Our neighbours in Denmark are one step ahead of us here: they are the only EU member to want to carry out deportations to Syria, there to secure regions. I think this is a correct and overdue step, which Woidke should take as an example.
I expect the Minister President to put Brandenburg's interests first, to advocate zero migration and the return of Syrians admitted to Brandenburg to the safe regions there. Appropriate return initiatives that ensure that Syrians who have fled and are not prosecuted for any anti-government activities before and during their flight, including any crimes committed during the same period against the duty of military service, are to be supported."
