Birgit Bessin: «The Brandenburg boat is full - turn the tide on migration policy now!»
While at the peak of illegal migration so far in 2015, about 25,000 migrants came to Brandenburg, in October this year there were already 37,000 immigrants. CDU Minister of the Interior Stübgen expects about 40,000 by the end of the year and is now calling for the closure of the Balkan route.
The AfD state chairwoman of Brandenburg, Birgit Bessin, commented as follows:
"We must not forget that it was the CDU, under Merkel, that opened the gates for the uncontrolled influx in 2015. As long as the CDU was in government, it did nothing to stem mass migration. This was despite the fact that there were findings regarding the Balkan refugee route (with charter planes from Turkey to Belgrade and on to Germany with smuggling organisations) as well as the statement by the president of the Federal Police as early as 2019 that there was no longer any question of safe external borders.
As the interior minister now correctly recognises, there are natural limits to the capacity to take in migrants. But the problem is homemade by his party. It is all the more incomprehensible why migrants who cannot prove any reason for asylum, but come to Brandenburg for economic reasons, are not denied residence here.
We can only recommend that the Minister of the Interior immediately implement the AfD's demands. This is the only way to get the problem under control:
- Obstacles to deportation for all tolerated persons must be removed immediately.
- Naturalisation through the back door of toleration and the so-called "right to remain" must be opposed at the federal level.
- Brandenburg's boat is full: at the federal level, it must be ensured that Brandenburg does not take in any more migrants for the time being.
- Introduce a change in migration policy: Switch benefits for immigrants and asylum seekers from cash to in-kind.
- Germany's borders must be effectively secured again and illegal immigrants consistently turned back." (P.Hansen--BTZ)
