Non-personal information collected using technology
Information we collect using technology
We use various Internet technologies to administer the BTZ Services and to track usage of the Services. Non-personal information we collect using these technologies may be combined with other information about you.
Device Information
We may collect non-personal information about the computer, mobile device or other device you use to access the BTZ Services, such as IP address, geolocation information, unique device identifiers, browser type, browser language and other transaction information.
Cookies, beacons, local storage and other similar technologies
We use "cookies", web beacons, HTML5 local storage and other similar technologies. These technologies allow us to manage access to and use of the Services, recognise and personalise you, and help us understand how BTZ Services are used. You will not be able to access certain areas of our websites, including [email protected], if your computer does not accept cookies from us. We do not respond to browser-based "do not track" signals.
We may share non-personally identifiable information about website usage with third parties in order to show you advertisements for BERLINER TAGESZEITUNG when you visit other websites. For more information about our third-party advertising servers, or to learn what choices you have about not having this non-personally identifiable information used to target advertising to you, please click here.
Analytics, Log Files and Reading History
As with most websites, we automatically collect and store certain information in log files. This information includes Internet Protocol (IP) addresses (the region or general location from which your computer or device accesses the Internet), browser type, operating system, and other usage information about your use of BTZ Services, including a history of the pages you view.
We may combine this automatically collected log information with other information we collect about you. We do this to improve the services we offer you, including tailored recommendations, advertising and currency display, to improve marketing, and to track access to and use of the BTZ Services across the devices you use to access the BTZ Services.
We have engaged third parties to provide us with information, reports and analytics about our users' usage and browsing behaviour. These may independently record the type of device and operating system you use, general location information and events within our Apps, such as how often you use our Apps.
Location information
Some of our mobile apps may deliver content based on your current location if you enable this feature in the app. When you enable the location-based feature, your current location is stored locally on your device, which is then used by the app. If you choose to have a location-based search stored in your history, we store this information on our servers. If you do not enable the location-based service or an app does not have this feature, the app does not transmit location information to us and we do not collect or store it.
Advertisements in our Apps will not be targeted to you based on your current GPS location, but may be targeted to you based on your postcode or the IP address of your device.
Third Parties
Some of the services and advertisements included in the BTZ Services, including on [email protected] and within our mobile apps, are provided or offered by third party companies that may collect information about your use of the BTZ Services.
These companies may place or recognise cookies, web beacons or other technologies to track certain non-personal information about our website users. For example, in the course of serving certain advertisements, an advertiser may place or recognise a unique cookie on your browser to collect certain information about your use of the BTZ Services. Another example is that an advertiser or ad server may also collect the unique identifier of your device in the course of serving an ad. In many cases, this information may be used to show you ads on other websites based on your interests. We do not have access to or control over these third parties' use of cookies or other tracking technologies.
For example, we use Google to serve ads on the BTZ Services that use the Google Doubleclick cookie and, in some cases, a unique device identifier to show you ads based on your visit to [email protected] and other websites on the Internet. You can opt out of the use of the Google Doubleclick cookie by visiting the Google Ads and Content Network Privacy Policy.
You have a choice about how you treat the collection of information by third parties on our website:
1) If you would like to learn more about not accepting cookies from advertisers, please visit [email protected]. If you wish to opt-out of interest-based ad targeting, access to our websites [email protected] should not be affected if you do not accept third-party cookies.
